Information for families
The project Cibercorresponsales was created by la Plataforma de Infancia de España (the Spanish Children’s Rights Coalition) to create educational processes that promote the participation of children and teenagers in favour of the rights of children using information and communication technology.
Who are the cibercorresponsales?
The cibercorresponsales is a social network of individuals under the age of 18 years old that participate through activities in various associations, such as schools or NGO programs. Behind each entry and each group, there are educational processes of work and development of skills, coordinated by the association or the collective group with which every cibercorresponsal is involved in.
They form a real community before a virtual one and create their blogs individually and together as a group. This way, they use www.cibercorresponsales.org as a space to tell the world what they do and what they think, giving form to a medium of communication created exclusively by minors.
What do the cibercorresponsales?
The young individuals express their interests and concerns, opinions, their different points of views, and they find and join other people that share their concerns and interests. Moreover, they learn to do this in a safe, healthy, and responsible way.
They receive basic training about the Internet, communication, participation and children’s rights, thus knowledge about Internet safety. Also, they receive specific training in photography, videos, web design and journalistic writing.
The participants develop their activity within the social entities or educational centers, so that during the entire process they are accompanied by educators that are specifically trained.
All of the content that you are able to see in the web page www.cibercorresponsales.org has been developed for individuals younger than 18 years old.
What is the purpose of the project?
With this project we want:
- To promote spaces and processes of real participation of individuals under the age of 18 years.
- To know their opinions, their concerns, their views on everyday issues or current topics.
- To facilitate their partnership, collaboration and exchange.
- To raise awareness of children’s rights from a youth perspective.
- To provide a permanent, solid and collaborative strategy of participation for institutions that work for the Rights of Children.
And, who pays for all of this?
Cibercorresponsales is publicly financed through the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.
All of the services are free. Information is not transferred with commercial or advertising purposes to third parties. The community is free of secret, commercial strategies. To be av cibercorresponsal is free and any cibercorresponsal may participate in the community without joining any advertising or commercial activity.
